I have always been mad about horses and would like to saver the memory of my wedding carriage for ever.
Then you are in luck. Graham is an award winning photographer and film maker and has had a lot of experience filming
and photographing weddings and horses (watch out for his new web site poseapony.com being launched
this summer).
Having just treated himself to a professional high definition video camera he is now in a position to film your entire
experience, and, as a horse lover, you will truly enjoy the 'home movie' bits of the friesians making ready etc.
For more details see the bottom of our
home page.
How far will your horses go?
Our horses are working horses and are therefore very fit. Whilst most of our competitors will quote two or three miles
maximum per journey, ours do fifteen miles or so most evenings for exercise. However, for time sensitive occasions such
as weddings, you will need to ensure that the distance travelled does not cause you to be late at the church! As a rough
guide a five mile journey should take no longer than 35 to 40 minutes depending on traffic, terrain etc.
I have bridesmaids who are mad about horses. Will there be room for them?
The current wedding carriage seats four adults or two adults and three children. If the journey to church is quite short,
we could arrange for the maids to go first then come back for the bride. Again, time is the important element here.
What if the journey is beyond even your horses?
We can arrange for you to be taken part way and then switch over to the traditional roller to complete the journey. We
do not arrange the car however.
We are getting married abroad!
Most people who marry abroad often come back for a UK blessing. We can ensure that you get the same level of service
for a blessing as you would for a full blown church wedding.
My parents would like a trip down memory lane when we are on honeymoon.
We can arrange a private pleasure drive or a Drive and Dine event with either the wedding Landau or our Wagonette. See
our
Services page for details.
I want to arrive at my school prom like a princess but as a student I can't afford it.
Don't you believe it my dear! We can get six of you into the Landau if you squash up a bit or eight of you in the wagonette.
As it is a one way trip it won't cost too much and if you split that between you all (or your dads!) then you and your friends
can arrive in such style as to be the talk of the town for years to come and still have lots of change for lemonade.
Do you cater for the disabled?
Unfortunately, getting in and out of a carriage designed in the 1800's is difficult enough for the able bodied. However,
we are constantly looking to improve our services and we hope some day to be able to provide an adapted or purpose-built vehicle
that will allow wheelchair access.
Other forms of disability such as blindness etc can be accommodated so long as they are accompanied by a responsible
able person.
What carriages do you have?
We currently have a convertable glass-fronted Landau, a varnished oak wagonette, a marathon vehicle for sporting events
on our day off!
a couple of exercise vehicles and a 19th century Swedish Phaeton, which is currently being renovated for future commercial
use.
The wagonette also converts via some clever DIY to replicate an old horse-drawn van onto which we hang boards advertising
businesses and events for corporate customers. For fuller details of the carriages and the horses click
here.
What horses are available?
The two main ones are pure-bred Friesians. These are bred for working and for driving in particular.
For more information on Friesians and / or Samson's dad, use our link to the FPS on the home page as a starting point.
Do you have any white horses?
Firstly, there is no such thing as a white horse. They are all catagorized as Greys. We do not at present have any greys
as we like the bride to be the centre of attention in her photographs. If you put on a white or cream frock and stand alongside
grey horses, the viewer will always look at the horses first and not the bride. If you stand next to our two boys, you will
stand out like a glow worm! (See the photo on the Home Page).
